HELP WANTED - VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

The Ethiopian Orphans Quilt Project is a sit and sew charity of quilt making for the children in Ethiopia.  We need volunteers at the International Quilt Festival in Long Beach in July to help instruct show attendees that would like to be a part of this project how to make the quilt.

The volunteers that sign up to instruct show attendees for one 2 to 2.75 hours shift will receive free entry to the show for that day.  If they work a total of 6 hours, they will receive priority enrollment for classes for 2009.  The shifts are Fri & Sat 9:45-12:30, 12:30-3:00, 3:00-5:00 and 5:00-7:00. Sunday shifts are 9:45-12:30 and 12:30-3:00.  Project instructions are below..

If you are interested, then phone or email me.  If there is a lot of interest, I can then take on the request and help be in charge of the booth.  Is this something you can do?

Instructions for the Ethiopian Orphanage Quilt Project.

We will call it the three by four blocks lay out.  The quilts will be 42"x60".  There will be 24 blocks cut 6.5" (4 fabrics,) and 6 blocks cut 12.5" (one fabric).  We will sew 4 - 6.5" blocks together to make a 12.5" 4 patch block (Make 6).  Then we will sew the 4 patch block to a 12.5" block (solid block).  Do that for 4 blocks.  It should result in a 12.5" wide strip by 48" (should have a 4 patch next to a one patch, next to a 4 patch, next to a one patch block).  The next row will then start with a one patch block, then 4 patch block, etc.  The last row will be the same as the first row.  We will join the rows with a sash so not to worry about matching corners.  We will also flip fabric over from the back to make a quick binding.  We want this to be simple and fun!
