PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE  --  January 2012

Happy New Year, Quilters!

Funny, isn’t it, how turning a page on the calendar can make you feel invigorated and full of plans and aspirations?  For quilters it’s about fresh new projects, shows to see, workshops to take – and oh yes, UFOs sure to be finished this year!

Our guild has a great year ahead, with lots of speakers, workshops, our challenge event, and our major fundraiser in the fall.  We’ll be talking about these in our annual business meeting on January 25, together with some issues that have been discussed by the Board:

• Should we work on a 2013 Opportunity Quilt?  Income from recent quilts has declined and may not justify the effort.
• Should we continue to mail the newsletter at a cost of $10 per year?
• To maintain and grow our guild, how can we provide a satisfying experience to current members and attract new members?

In addition to the business discussion we’ll be having a demonstration of Facebook and internet activities for quilters, as well as an activity for the non-techies to get to know our fellow guild members better.

And don’t forget that you can come as early as 5:00 pm to use the tables to spread out and pin your latest project, work on a charity quilt, or just bring takeout and chat with fellow early birds.  See you then!
