Wandering Foot Quilt Guild

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE  --  FEBRUARY 2010

What a great meeting January meeting.  Our yearly business meeting usually ends way before 9:00 pm and most of our members are out of there.  How fun that most members that attended stayed way past the 9:00 pm time.  It was all due to our wonderful board members: from Midge’s shared and informative talk on everyday household items that can be used for quilting.  Loved the information about Suave Shampoo, I actually used it on two quilts, goodbye Woolite, hello Suave:  Marge Nichol’s introduction of our Annual Challenge “Only in LA”: The announcement of the Fashion Show & Tea fund raiser (October 16th):  Our show & tell items and of course the door prizes.  GREAT JOB everyone

Every year Road to California tops itself from the previous year, it was an excellent show.  I saw so many quilts that were way beyond my skill set and I only hope to attain a little of the techniques used and displayed.  Although white gloving is not always my cup of tea, I had fun this year, due to opening my mouth and talking to anyone that came my way.  There were many interesting conversations and contacts made.  So if you hesitate about serving, just think of it as a way to meet new people, some who are newbie’s, and your enthusiasm may convince them to join a guild and continue quilting.

Our newsletter is coming alive under Louise Jandura’s tutelage.  She has taken it under her wing, and has come up with a wealth of ideas, some of which you can see in the February edition.  So read cover to cover, you may find some surprises and a chance to win a fat quarter.  I can’t wait to see what she has planned for March’s newsletter.

Don Beld is our featured speaker this month.  Not only is he funny, his knowledge and collection of civil war quilts and quilts from period past is not to be missed.  The meeting this month is Wednesday, February 24th.  Now if I can find some time during all this rain to sew, just think if I lived in Washington D.C. how many projects I could finish?  NAH …I’ll take rain over 27 inches of snow…see you on the 24th.

        Your President, Muriel
